After a decade in the industry I wanted to put down what I think crypto is for, and which of the visions competing inside it I hold. The Crypto Compass is my attempt to name those visions: what each one wants to free people from, and what it would build in place of what it tears down.
XCrypto wants power. The question is how a new technology cultivates power without being absorbed by what it set out to replace, and the early Church is the most useful analogy I have found for it.
